Our first grandchild is here, and she is a beautiful little princess! Thank you Hashem!

After being blessed with four boys, Hashem decided it was finally time to bring a little princess into the Abelow family. The emotions are impossible to describe.

Yet this birth represents something even greater than an extraordinary personal family celebration: our granddaughter is the fourth generation of the Abelow family blessed to live in our God-given, indigenous, ancestral homeland.

For thousands of years, generations of Jews lived in exile, wandering from country to country, enduring persecution and Jew-hating antisemitism while never abandoning the dream of returning home to Jerusalem and the Land of Israel.

I was blessed to be born and raised in the United States, arguably the greatest home the Jewish people ever experienced in exile, and I will forever be grateful for that. But I was even more blessed to make aliyah and come home to Israel, brought here by my parents, who have now become great-grandparents!

Today, our children are building their own Jewish families here. Our granddaughter will grow up in the land where her ancestors dreamed of living. She will not merely learn about the miraculous return of the Jewish people to our homeland.

She is the return.
