Michael Knowles approaches Zionism through Christian theology, but Zionism is not a Christian idea to be judged by Christian categories, it is a Jewish return to Jewish history, land, and destiny. Knowles believes that Zionism is purely a secular movement, but that claim misunderstands its essence. For the Jewish people, our return to Israel is not a break from religious belief, it is the fulfillment of it, expressed through history, land, and national rebirth.

 

This is not an argument about Church doctrine, but a clarification of what Zionism truly is, and what the Jewish people mean when we say that Israel is our home.
