Hours before the the Yom Kippur holiday, the holiest day to the Jewish people, while I was out on IDF reserve patrol in the Judean Hills, we were placed on heightened alert after a deadly shooting attack near the Jewish community of Neve Tzuf in the Binyamin region of Samaria.

Then came the devastating news: Netanel Shakron הי״ד, a father of six from Alei Zahav, had been murdered.

The circumstances are heartbreaking.

On the eve of Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year, Netanel went with his eldest son to a natural spring to immerse and spiritually prepare himself for the holy day.

A terrorist opened fire.

Netanel was murdered. His son survived.
