The Middle East is shifting again. Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan, a nuclear country, are developing deeper security ties, while the possibility of broader regional arrangements involving Iran has reportedly been discussed. At the same time, Muslim governments, including countries that have relations with Israel, continue finding common ground in publicly condemning Israel.

Israelis need to wake up to a fundamental truth about the Middle East: agreements are valuable, but unreliable long-term. Deterrence is indispensable.
